The Pompano fishing is fantastic right now.  We are catching these fish on goofy jigs using light tackle. On light tackle these fish are great fun they pull hard and sometimes big ones even jump.  But nothing compares to the taste of Pompano.  They are one of the best tasting fish out there and at the fish market can cost you about  $25 per pound. Some other species that we're catching are Black Drum, Tripletail, and Snook.

Fishing here in Stuart, FL has been very consistent. The recent cold fronts have pushed the Pompano and Spanish Mackerel down and they are here to stay.   An average trip has been producing 2 to 6 keeper pompano and as many Spanish mackerel as you can reel in before your arm gives out. Hope to see you on the water.

THE FALL MULLET RUN IS here and the fishing is on fire!!!

October 15th

IMG_0375.jpg

The mullet run is in full swing with huge bait schools pouring into the inlets everyday.  As the bait work they're way down river, they are constantly being harassed by Snook, Tarpon, Jacks, and Sharks. This creates great fishing opportunities.  As the bait is being pushed by the tides they will inevitably be pushed into structure and the predators no it.  Some of the best structure to fish is docks and bridge pilings.  Soon as the bait nears structure a feeding frenzy is triggered, a frenzy that most will only see on National Geographic.  The mullet will do anything to escape including jumping in the boat. So come on down to Stuart, Florida and experience it for your self.

THE FALL MULLET RUN IS STARTING!

snook and tarpon in the minnows

AUGUST 17th

The glass minnow run is in full affect. So get out before they are gone. They only come once every 5-7 years.  The bait pods are so thick that from a distance they look like black die in the water that stretches for miles along the beaches.  The bait pods create a feeding frenzy with thousands of Snook, Tarpon and just about every thing else that swims.  These fish a very focused on the small minnows so target the edge of the bait schools.  Try to keep your bait out of the school so it stands out.  Some of the best baits to use are live pilchards,  white jerk baits and minnow imitation fly's.
